Laser Eye Surgery:
Laser eye surgery is the most commonly performed elective procedure in the world today. In the simplest of terms, laser eye surgery uses a laser to reshape the cornea of the eye to change its focusing power to improve your sight. Laser eye surgery can be safely recommended for most people, but there are some exceptions. Certain eye or medical conditions and some general health problems may make the procedure unsuitable.
There is no upper age limit for laser eye surgery but it cannot effectively correct eyesight for individuals who have presbyopia and only need reading glasses. Patients who wear bifocal or varifocal glasses may benefit from Clarivu, Optegra’s refractive lens exchange surgery, using accommodating or multifocal lens implants.
Clarivu™ Permament lens replacement:
Clarivu is a proven and permanent lens replacement procedure that could correct both long and short-sightedness and prevent or eliminate cataracts.
“Clarivu” is the brand name used exclusively by Optegra, for its individually tailored vision correction (Refractive Lens Exchange – RLE) package. The package includes; all diagnostic eye assessments, an advanced technology intraocular lens (IOL), specifically chosen for the lifestyle and visual goals of the patient by their Optegra consultant ophthalmic surgeon at their consultation, the procedure undertaken in an Optegra eye hospital and all post-operative care.
The Clarivu package means the patient pays one single price for the consultation, procedure, aftercare and lenses – no matter what the patient’s prescription. Other providers offering RLE may require payment for all these items separately and the price will often be dependent on the patient’s prescription and the type of lens required.
In addition, the Clarivu package includes any further top-up laser surgery that may be required in order to meet the stated visual goals of the patient.
This proven treatment, carried out thousands of times by Optegra, is a technically advanced and sophisticated development of cataract surgery. In fact, it’s one of the world’s most frequently performed surgical procedures. Clarivu corrects common abnormalities of the focusing power of the eye, known as refractive errors. These include astigmatism, presbyopia, hyperopia and myopia.
