GANT

Did you know that Valli Opticians has some fabulous new brands in store? These vary from the popular, well known, fashionable high street names to more custom-made, bespoke products. Our new ranges include something for everyone from the lightweight Lindberg rimless frames, to the high couture Tom Ford collection. For the more adventurous we have the colourful Ronit Furst handpainted frames, or if you are a lady who likes a little sparkle in your life, we are sure you will love the stunning crystal embellishments of Swarovski. For the stylish man about town we have the quirky traditional Anglo American collection or how about the New England styling of GANT?

We are now stocking GANT for men in our Almondbury, Hebden Bridge, Honley and Meltham branches. These stunning frames echo the feel of the GANT clothing brand which is synonymous with New England style.

The brand was launched in 1949 in New Haven in the USA, by Marty and Elliot Gantmacher. By the 1960s GANT shirts were popular with young American male students, being worn without a tie to reveal the roll of the collar. With many individual features including double truck hems, and the GANT loop at the back, GANT shirts soon became very desirable.

By the mid 60s the GANT brand was the second largest manufacturer of shirts in the world with many concessions in major department stores.  The Gantmacher family sold the business in 1967 and it is currently owned by the Swiss holding company Maus Frerers. Initially the brand was only marketed outside the USA in Sweden, but it quickly expanded internationally and now has over 600 stores. In 1997 the GANT New York flagship store was opened on 5th Avenue and in 2006 the brand became a public company after it was floated on the Stockholm stock exchange.

At Valli Opticians we love to bring International style to our North of England practices, and we have a fantastic range to choose from, with frames to suit every combination and budget.

If choosing new glasses is a little daunting don’t worry, our highly trained team of dispensing opticians and optical advisors will be delighted to help you. They will talk you through the choice of frames and lenses, to ensure that you take home the best possible glasses for you.
