Kamal volunteering

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of our Optometrist Kamal Aftab.  Kamal has worked for Valli Opticians for over four years.  He was a dedicated professional who had a fabulous manner with patients and his clinical skills were second to none.  Kamal had a real passion for his job and was much more than a colleague, he was a friend.

Kamal was always very helpful, optimistic and championed the cause of those less fortunate than himself.  Paying special attention to young people, he was a regional youth leader and mentor for Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Associations (AMYA).  This is a charity that seeks to teach young people life skills, by engaging them in community and charitable initiatives.  Raising tens of thousands of pounds for charity Kamal had time for everyone and was a community champion from West Yorkshire.

Kamal has been described as a ‘true humanitarian’ and was voted The Guardian newspaper’s 2014 Volunteer of the Year.

We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.  We shall all miss him greatly.
