Moin and prize giving at the brass factor

The rain may have poured down over the weekend, but the Brass Factor in Holmfirth was still a great success. It was a full house in the Picturedrome as the crowd braved the weekend’s terrible weather to soak up (pardon the pun) the evening’s music.

Each year Alex Bray’s brain child, the Brass Factor, brings a feast of Brass entertainment to the town and there is no doubt that for the past five years it has gone from strength to strength. Valli Opticians are proud to have sponsored the event and we are delighted to support such a fantastic local competition, which helps raise much needed funds for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

From the moment Slaithwaite band took to the stage on Saturday evening to the final performance by West Yorkshire Police band, the Picturedrome echoed to the audience’s applause.

One band of young musicians proved to be one of the biggest hits with the crowds. The Hope Bank Youth Band wowed the audience with an upbeat performance of Uptown Funk. With stomping feet and determined clapping they even had the judges on their feet.

Laughter was the hallmark of another performance by the winning band, Besses o’th’ Barn Band who proved a festival favourite, mixing humour with music. The event lived up to all the hype and we enjoyed a full and varied evening’s entertainment.

Valli Opticians are delighted to have such a good relationship with the Brass Factor and we enjoy supporting local music. Sometimes musicians struggle with their vision and seeing the conductor or the music on the music stand can be a problem. With brass players among the staff of Valli Opticians we understand the needs of the musicians and conductors. If you are a musician and are having problems with your vision, contact us via valliopticians.co.uk/contact-us or visit valliopticians.co.uk/practices.
